Exhibition “Brescia European city, puts on the...facade”

Thursday 22 May 2025
Scuola Primaria "Muzio Calini" - Via Nino Bixio, 9

The graphic project that, as every year, marks the end of the Drawing I and Laboratory Course and therefore takes the name of Head of Work, has the present title. The purpose was to draw up a paper poster (70X100 mostly hand-drawn), within which each student-matricule (through various types of representation) was responsible for designing a mural, excluding, of course, its material realization. The theme, involves an investigation of the city and its neighboring province, through a survey of the state of the art of “painted-painted” architectural facades; both of what remains of them in past history and in the contemporary., with the current mural. The area of intervention was circumscribed to the Carmine district and more specifically to the Musio Calini School, whose blind facade on the square in front, becomes a kind of vertical urban void, thus transforming itself into an ideal architectural blade on which each student designed (without the material realization) his or her mural. Given the themes addressed in the Drawing course within a Building-Architecture Degree Course we also set ourselves the constraint, that the theme should have as its subject the architecture and landscape of Brescia, in its most evincing stylistic features. The theme graphically carried out by the students will, of course, remain confined to educational and scientific purposes only, but the display of the works at designated venues, as in this case The Muzio Calini School, becomes an evocative exhibition as a manifesto of the educational work of the University and its students, thus creating an interface between the Academy and the city.
