Composition and responsibilities
The Degree Programme Board is chaired by a Chairperson elected by the Board itself from amongst tenured full or associate professors, and comprises all teaching staff assigned teaching duties relating to the degree programme, as well as student representatives in accordance with the University Statutes.
The Degree Programme Council is responsible for organising teaching, approving study programmes, appointing examination boards and committees for other assessments of student performance, as well as for the final examinations leading to the award of the degree.
Article 13(1) of the University’s Academic Regulations states that: “1. The Degree Programme Council or Joint Degree Programme Council shall consist of academic staff holding teaching posts for the courses in question – including research staff appointed to teach on a temporary or substitute basis and contract academic staff – and, where applicable, the heads of teaching sections. In addition, there shall be student representation amounting to at least 15 per cent of the Council’s members, as provided for in the University Statutes. For each academic year, the teaching staff component of the Council is constituted as at the start date of lectures for the first term of the academic year”.
