Validation of previous studies - Engineering

Find out how to apply for validation of previous studies for courses offered by the Engineering Departments: the application must be submitted at the same time as enrolment or renewal of enrolment.

The recognition of examinations taken during the student’s previous studies is decided by the relevant Degree Programme Board (CCSA), without the student needing to submit any specific written application.

For the single-cycle Master’s degree programme in Architectural Engineering, students must follow the instructions set out in the transfer notice regarding the recognition of examinations taken and credits earned during their previous studies.

The recognition of exams taken during a student’s previous studies is decided by the relevant Degree Programme Board (CCSA), exclusively upon the student’s request, which must be submitted via their personal account on the Esse3 portal, following this path:
Student Services > Academic Progress > Application for recognition of credits from previous studies.

The procedure requires the student to enter the exams to be recognised, along with the relevant details. It is also possible to attach a self-certification of the exams passed and, where available, the course syllabuses.

Once the application has been processed, the student will receive an automatic confirmation email and will be charged the stamp duty applicable to the application.

The process concludes when the Registrar’s Office uploads the resolution to the student’s personal account, and the student will be notified via an automatic email.

If the application is successful, the recognised modules will be recorded in the student’s academic transcript.

Please note that, should an exam be recognised only partially, it will be the student’s responsibility to contact the lecturer in charge of the module, sending them a copy of the decision and agreeing directly on how to complete the exam.

Students are required to first submit the academic record to be shortened to the relevant International Student Office, which will verify the accuracy, completeness and authenticity of the documentation provided.

Only following a successful outcome of this verification may the student submit a request for the shortening of their academic record via their personal account on the Esse3 portal, following this path:

Secretariat > Academic Record > Application for Recognition of Credits.
