Validation of previous studies - Economics

Find out how to apply for the recognition of prior learning for courses offered by the Department of Economics: the application must be submitted at the same time as enrolment or renewal of enrolment.

Before proceeding with the application, it is essential to read the regulations governing the recognition of prior learning, approved by the CCSA for Economics and Management and published here.

The recognition of exams taken during a student’s previous studies is decided by the relevant Degree Programme Board (CCSA), exclusively upon the student’s request, which must be submitted via the online form available at the link provided at the end of this paragraph.

The procedure requires the mandatory upload of the following documentation:

  • a self-certification of exams passed at other universities;
  • syllabi for modules taken outside the Department of Economics and Management.

The process is completed when the Secretariat uploads the resolution to the student’s secure portal.

If the application is successful, the recognised modules will be recorded in the student’s academic transcript.

If an exam is only partially recognised, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the lecturer in charge of the course, sending them a copy of the resolution and agreeing directly on how to complete the exam.

The form allows you to submit the application for recognition only once and must be completed using your institutional email address only.

Students are required to first submit the degree programme to be shortened to the relevant International Student Office, which will verify that the documentation submitted is correct, complete and accurate.

Only once this verification has been successfully completed may the student submit a request for the validation of previous studies by completing the relevant application form available via the link provided at the end of this paragraph.

The procedure requires the student to enter the examinations to be recognised, along with the relevant details. It is also possible to attach the transcript of records (using the space provided for self-certification of passed examinations) and the course syllabuses.

The process is completed when the Registrar’s Office uploads the decision to the student’s secure portal.

If the application is successful, the recognised modules will be recorded in the student’s academic transcript.

Please note that, should an exam be recognised only partially, it will be the student’s responsibility to contact the lecturer in charge of the module, sending them a copy of the decision and agreeing directly on how to complete the exam.

You can apply for recognition of work experience by completing the online form available via the link at the end of this paragraph.

The application will be submitted to the CCSA. The process is completed when the Secretariat uploads the resolution to the student’s secure portal.
