Biotechnologies – OFA (Additional learning requirements)

OFA: Additional Educational Requirements.

Enrollment in the first year of the program is contingent upon passing an admission exam. Students who rank high enough on the admission list, within the planned number of spots, are admitted to the Biotechnology degree program.

The selection test used is the TOLC-B (CISIA Online Test), organized by the University of Brescia in collaboration with the CISIA Consortium (Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems).
The mandatory entrance exam consists of a multiple-choice test designed to assess basic knowledge in chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics.

Candidates who rank high enough on the merit list but who score less than 30% of the maximum possible points on the admission test in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics will be assigned educational requirements (OFA).

In order to fulfil the educational debt, the student must carry out the specific educational activities established annually by the Course Council or attend remedial courses activated by the University.

First-year students will not be eligible to take the following exams until they have completed the OFA requirements in Biology:

• General and Cellular Biology (6 CFU, SSD: BIO/13)
• Genetics and Genomics (Integrated course consisting of the modules General Genetics and Elements of Human Genetics, 3 CFU, SSD: BIO/13, and Molecular Genetics and Genomics, 6 CFU, SSD: BIO/18).

First-year students will not be permitted to take the following course-based exam until they have fulfilled the OFA requirements in Chemistry:

• General, Inorganic, and Organic Chemistry (Integrated course consisting of the modules General and Inorganic Chemistry, 6 CFU, SSD: CHIM/03, and Organic Chemistry, 6 CFU, SSD: CHIM/06)

First-year students may not take the following course exam until they have completed the OFA requirements in Physics:

• Mathematics and Physics (Integrated course consisting of the Applied Physics module, 6 CFU, SSD FIS/07, and the Mathematics module, 6 CFU, SSD MAT/05).

Students who do not complete OFA by the end of the first year will not be allowed to enrol in the second year of the course, they will remain enrolled in the first year in supernumerary, with the status of repeat student.
