OFA - Economics

The assumed background includes basic mathematical knowledge of the following topics:

• Algebraic calculation (literal algebra, monomials, polynomials: operations, factorization, notable products, and division)
• First and second degree algebraic equations and inequalities
• Fractional, irrational, absolute value, logarithmic and exponential rational equations and inequalities of first and second degree in one variable
• Systems of equations and inequalities.
  Cartesian coordinates. Elementary geometry in the plane (straight line, circle, ellipse, parabola, hyberbola)
• Graphs and domain of elementary functions.

The Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi (OFA) di matematica are assigned to: 

• Students who achieve a score below the established threshold in the TOLC-E test. For the academic year 2026/2027, this threshold is set at 4 scores out of 13 points in the “Matematica” section of the TOLC-E. 
• Students who achieve a score below the established threshold in the CEnT-S test. For the academic year 2026/2027, this threshold is set at 11 (normalized score) in the “Mathematics” section of the CEnT-S. 
• Students who have not taken either the TOLC-E or the CEnT-S test. 
• Students who enrol late and have not taken either the TOLC-E or the CEnT-S or have taken one of the two tests (TOLC-E/CEnT-S) by obtaining a score lower than the fixed threshold, respectively. 

Students with assigned OFA di matematica can enrol in the first year of the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes but they are required to recover these OFA, as explained below. 

The OFA di matematica will be assigned to students at the end of October 2026 and will be recorded in the student transcript as “Elementi di Base: Matematica”. 

The courses of the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes that are blocked by the Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi (OFA) in Mathematics are listed in the following tables.

IMPORTANT: Students are allowed to take the exams for the courses listed below, only after the fulfilling the OFA in Mathematics.

Students enrolled in the first year of the 2026–27 A.Y. have the option of retaking the maths OFAs either with the ‘Exam Mode’ or the ‘TOLC Mode’, in accordance with the timetable published here >>

Students clearing the OFA mathematics exams with the “TOLC method” must open a ticket addressed to “Studiare” >> “Exams” and submit the certificate of results issued by CISIA.
