The Student Assembly of UNITA is an organ of the alliance composed of students from the 12 universities, who meet in a plenary session once a month.
It acts as a point of contact between the governance of the alliance and the student population, which numbers about 250.000 students, providing feedback and opinions on actions, including those related to mobility.
It deals with all aspects of interest to the student component within the alliance, from its involvement in the decision-making processes of UNITA to the proposal of new projects to be developed and made available to the partner universities.
The members of the Student Assembly participate in the meetings of the task teams within the different work packages of UNITA, together with the academic and administrative staff, who are the beating heart of the alliance, where ideas are translated into actions and implemented.

The decision-making process of UNITA operates in a participatory manner under the guidance of the Governance Board, the strategic decision-making body responsible for the overall direction of the project, strategic decision-making, and budgetary decisions. Its resolutions are based on reports and recommendations from the Student Assembly, the Advisory Council, the Quality and Evaluation Board, and the Management Committee.
The Student Assembly, composed of 8 student representatives from each of the 12 universities of the UNITA Alliance, is self-managed by its members and provides proposals and recommendations on every aspect of the Alliance.
It also directly participates in decision-making processes, knowledge sharing, the implementation of educational activities, as well as research and innovation. It's a stimulating environment for the personal and professional development of all involved, with the aim of transforming the academic experience for every student, doctoral candidate, and alumnus.
The Student Assembly elects:
- 2 members for the Governance Board
- 2 members for the Quality and Evaluation Board
- Members of the Management Committee and each Task Team of the Alliance, involved in every stage of the decision-making processes.
The representatives of the Student Assembly, organized into lists and elected from the entire student population of UNITA, are 8 for each university of the Alliance and are responsible for bringing the opinions and needs to the governance of UNITA. They are the voice of the students at the decision-making tables of the Alliance, where they participate alongside rectors and administrative staff.
Internally, the Student Assembly discusses ideas and projects to create new opportunities for students.
The Student Assembly is a vital part of UNITA, dedicated to addressing the needs, proposals, and concerns of all students within the Alliance. It serves to give a voice to the student body, ensuring that every issue, idea, and feedback are heard and taken into consideration.
By promoting open communication and active participation, the Assembly plays a key role in creating a supportive and responsive educational environment.
Additionally, it works in collaboration with each university and administration to implement new solutions, improving the overall experience of every student.
The Student Assembly plays a key role in addressing any needs, proposals, or concerns of every student within the Alliance. It helps improve campus life by ensuring that the voices of students are heard by university administrations.
By running for election, expressing opinions, and voting, students shape the future, supporting a better environment both inside and outside university campuses.
Each of these functions highlights the importance of student participation in this democratic process. Students, in fact:
- Are stakeholders within universities: their involvement and contribution are essential in shaping policies and decisions that impact their academic path and campus life.
- Benefit from the educational services provided by universities: it is therefore necessary to defend the educational standards of universities and prioritize quality education and adequate resources.
- Make use of services linked to various campus facilities, such as healthcare, counseling, academic services, and recreational facilities.
- Are part of the educational process. The relationship between faculty, administration, and other students is a partnership aimed at achieving mutual goals.
- Participate democratically. Voting is a fundamental aspect of democratic engagement within universities, allowing student representatives to be held accountable and ensuring their voices are heard. Democratic participation is crucial for promoting transparency, inclusivity, and responsiveness within the Student Assembly.

Students enrolled in a bachelor's degree, master's degree, PhD program, or any other course at one of the 12 UNITA universities during the 2024-2025 academic year are eligible to run for representative.

- Key priorities: a targeted summary of the main priorities and key initiatives the candidate plans to address if elected. The document should highlight the most urgent issues and the immediate action plan.
