At departmental level, the implementation of quality procedures for teaching is the responsibility of theDepartmental Quality Committee.
In addition to the Departmental Quality Committee, the following bodies are also involved in quality assurance:
• The Joint Staff-Student Committee, established by Law No. 240 of 30 December 2010, which is tasked with monitoring the educational and teaching provision of degree programmes, collecting feedback and proposals from students, and drawing up an annual evaluation report;
• The Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes Council, which, through the Review Committees—in which the quality representatives of each degree programme participate—is responsible for the annual review of the programmes, as required by the AVA system;
• Since 2023, the AVA system has also been extended to PhD programmes. Consequently, each PhD programme has appointed a Quality Officer(SBMT, GMBM, PM) who supports the Department’s Quality Committee in managing the PhD programme through quality procedures.
All these stakeholders operate:
At University level, within an integrated framework comprising:
• the Evaluation Unit (NUV);
• the University Quality Councils (PQA);
At departmental level, in synergy with:
• the Department quality Assurance Council, which have been assigned broader responsibilities regarding the implementation of quality assurance;
• the Undergraduate and Master’s Degree Programmes Council is responsible for both implementing and monitoring the academic provision;
• the Joint Staff-Student Committee, within the context of quality assessment, is responsible for monitoring the academic and teaching provision of degree programmes and for collecting feedback and proposals from students.
Gathering feedback from current students and graduates regarding individual modules and the overall structure of degree programmes and PhD programmes is essential to the Teaching Quality Assurance system, representing one of the central aspects of the AVA quality system.
In addition to the feedback from students and graduates, the AVA system has defined a set of monitoring indicators for degree programmes covering the three stages of a student’s academic journey: entry, progression and graduation.
