According to the recommendation expressed in the Vademecum for the Development of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) in Italian Universities, the GEP defines objectives for each area of intervention and several related actions. Each strategic action provides indicators, addressees, responsibilities and dedicated resources.
AREA 1: ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE AND WORK/LIFE BALANCE
- establishment and strengthening of the Office of the gender policy Referent Person Contact Person and pursuit of gender equality as a strategic objective of the PTA;
- diffusion of the equal panel, inclusion and well-being;
- training on gender issues and stereotypes; training and updating relating to the use of inclusive and intersectional language;
- review of the University website and documentation from a gender and inclusive perspective;
- support for parenting and shared care, support and training for reboarding after long leave.
AREA 2: GENDER BALANCE IN TOP POSITIONS IN DECISION-MAKING BODIES
- systemic involvement of the University's Governance in order to implement the Gender Equality Plan and the Gender Budgeting Report, integrated with the University's planning policy;
- sharing of results through the University website, with the updating of a dedicated pages;
- coordination between the Gender Commission, the CRUI delegate, the National Network of CUGs and the National Conference of Equality Bodies of Italian Universities;
- workshops for the development of knowledge and skills in leadership and teamwork (workshops, training and empowerment modules);
- increasing the presence of the under-represented gender in the top positions of elective, mixed and non-elective academic bodies.
AREA 3: GENDER EQUALITY IN RECRUITMENT AND CAREER PROGRESSION
- mapping of appointments for gender balance and mapping of events to verify the application of gender equality in the organisation of the programmes of scientific and popular events and their visibility; drafting of a list of female experts to be involved in the various panels as part of events in the Brescia area
- adopting measures and initiatives to promote gender balance in the composition of competition committees and drafting a vademecum for an inclusive approach to the various stages of recruitment.
AREA 4: GENDER MAINSTREAMING IN RESEARCH AND TEACHING PROGRAMMES
- quantitative survey on the prevalence of gender issues in research groups; mapping of research data collection tools for the identification of the presence of gender issues;
- definition of criteria to be applied for the payment of bonuses, in addition to individual remuneration;
- survey on the presence of gender issues in Third Mission activities; specific training of staff involved in Third Mission activities on their contribution in terms of economic, social and innovation value;
- development of training proposals to raise awareness of the need for and importance of the gender perspective: training events aimed at lecturers and researchers to promote fair and inclusive research; optional extracurricular interdisciplinary courses for all macro-areas of the University, compulsory experimental course for newly enrolled students, compulsory seminars within the PhD and specialisation courses to activate knowledge and skills with regard to the gender+ perspective and its concrete application in the drafting of European projects;
- integration of the gender dimension in entry guidance at primary and secondary schools from a gender educational perspective and consolidation of relations with the provincial office and relevant institutions in the territory.
AREA 5: CONTRASTING GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE INCLUDING SEXUAL HARASSMENT
- seminars and/or multidisciplinary events on the theme of gender-based violence and related issues, also open to the public
- production of information material with visual impact aimed at raising the academic community's awareness on the topic of combating gender-based violence;
- annual participatory workshops in collaboration with the city's anti-violence network on the topic of gender-based violence;
- extension of the survey on the perception of gender-based violence;
- presentation and support of the Trust Advisor(s) and Student Guarantor(s) in the study courses and twice-yearly meetings in the Department Councils;
- opening a table with all public bodies to enhance participation in existing territorial networks.
