The Gender Equality Plan 2025-2027 was approved by provision No. 356 of the Board of Directors on December 17, 2024, following the Gender Equality Plan 2022-2024, drawn up by an specially established working group (GEP TEAM) and approved by provision No. 90 of the Academic Senate on April 27, 2022. Among the actions indicated in the first three-year period, listed in the GEP 2025-2027, the constitution of the Gender Commission of the University of Brescia was envisaged, with the task of drafting, periodically updating and implementing the GEP with the achievement of the set objectives.
The Gender Equality Plan of the University of Brescia is a strategic and programming policy planning the inclusion of a gender perspective in research, innovation and academia, fostering a culture of respect, combating discrimination and promoting gender equality. The document is divided into the following five areas:
- organisational culture and work/life balance;
- gender balance in top positions in decision-making bodies;
- gender equality in recruitment and career progression;
- gender mainstreaming in research and teaching programmes;
- contrasting gender based violence including sexual harassment.
Each area identifies several objectives. For the realisation of each objective, more actions are indicated, with direct and indirect addressees, institutional and operational responsibilities, human resources, financial resources, evaluation indicators, timeline and related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
