The Gender Commission is responsible for implementing the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) dedicating its efforts to carrying out all initiatives necessary to fully achieve the plan’s objectives. Its work also seeks to raise awareness of gender equity across the entire academic community. The Commission collaborates with all University bodies, departments, and administrative offices to ensure the broadest participation and the best coordination of initiatives aimed at fostering equal opportunities, inclusion, and equality. It also works to promote the dissemination of these principles within civil society, integrating them into the University’s planning and reporting tools.
In implementing the GEP, the Commission’s primary role is to support the integration of a gender perspective into all University policies. To this end, it provides both strategic and operational coordination of the actions outlined in the GEP, ensuring their alignment with the Gender Budgeting Report.
The Gender Commission is committed to promoting projects and initiatives for University staff and the student community, aimed at spreading a culture of respect, advancing gender inclusion, and combating all forms of discrimination or violence. Its activities include seminars, training courses—such as an online introductory course comprising seven short video modules available on the Moodle platform—public events, and initiatives supporting work–life balance. The Commission also organises numerous outreach and awareness-raising activities with local stakeholders for the wider community, including theatre performances. Among its most significant initiatives is the STEM IN GENERE project, designed to counter gender imbalance in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines.
