The new three-year degree course in Medical Engineering (class L-8 Information Engineering), starting in the 2026/2027 academic year, was created to respond to one of the main challenges of modern healthcare: transforming clinical needs into concrete, safe, and functional technological solutions. In a global context marked by rapid advances in artificial intelligence, advanced sensor technology, and connected devices, the program aims to train technical professionals capable of communicating effectively with medical and healthcare personnel.
The program, which is part of the Department of Information Engineering (DII), is aimed at students with a strong interest in science and technology. The curriculum integrates a solid scientific foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry with skills in electronics and computer science, complemented by courses in anatomy, physiology, biology, and pharmacology. Characterized by significant experimental activity from the first year onwards, the course requires admission via TOLC-I (CISIA Online Test) and the personalization of the profile in the third year, choosing between topics related to the industrial sector or information processing and management.
Graduates in Medical Engineering will be versatile professionals capable of working in the design of electro-medical devices, the management of healthcare telecommunications infrastructure, and the analysis of clinical data. There are broad employment prospects: from companies in the biomedical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical sectors to clinical engineering and consulting firms, from hospitals to research centers and innovative start-ups in the field of digital health and telemedicine.
