Urban Regeneration
In the civil sector, the urgent need for urban and built regeneration is now recognized, as our cities underwent significant development after the Second World War, between the 1960s and 1980s, when needs were very different from those of today. These include the new housing needs of a significantly changed society, a greater awareness of the seismic risk affecting buildings (historic and modern), as well as new urban and suburban mobility needs. This context also includes major infrastructure projects, now obsolete for current society's needs and, in recent decades, subject to inevitable deterioration. Among these are bridges, the subject of considerable scrutiny in recent years due to serious structural collapses, designed and built when traffic requirements were significantly lower than today.
