The Observatory was created through the transformation of the Interdepartmental University Centre for the Study, Prevention and Treatment of Surgical Liver Diseases, whose Scientific Director was Prof. Nazario Portolani.

Three-Year Research Programme (2014-2016)

The Observatory's activities focus on:

  1. Developing research and epidemiological studies on liver cancer.
  2. Advancing research in the field of liver tumour biology.
  3. Investigating predictive factors for long-term survival in patients undergoing surgery for primary or secondary liver malignancies.
  4. Promoting education, training, and scientific knowledge in the clinical management and treatment of patients with liver cancer.
