Proteomics Laboratory

The proteomics laboratory, which has been operational since 2014, is one of the specialised technology platforms, certified to ISO 9001:2015, which can be used to assess, from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective, compounds of various types and origins: from small molecules of natural origin or obtained synthetically, to large molecules (proteins, lipids, etc.) of biological, food, pharmaceutical and other origins.

The laboratory offers the possibility of carrying out chemical analyses of compounds from various sources (biological, biotechnological, food, etc.), with a particular focus on proteome research.

Alessandra Gianoncelli is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry; she coordinates the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology Unit and is the head of the Proteomics laboratory. Her research focuses on the use of analytical chemistry techniques (HPLC, NMR, mass spectrometry) and organic synthesis applied to the study of proteins and the development of small molecules capable of interacting with targets of pharmacological interest. Giovanni Ribaudo is a Research Associate (RTDa) in the CHIM/08 scientific discipline, and his research focuses on the identification, development and optimisation of new drug candidates through a combination of computational techniques (ligand-based studies, docking and molecular dynamics) and experiments on the interaction between small molecules and targets based on mass spectrometry.
