University Library System Catalogue (OPAC)

The University Library System catalogue (OPAC) records and displays the monographs and journals in print format owned by the libraries of the University of Brescia.

Through a simple or advanced search, it is possible to check whether a work is owned, its location, whether it is available and under what conditions (loan or consultation). In the case of journals, the consistency is also indicated, i.e. the years and issues actually owned. By logging in with institutional credentials (or those provided by the libraries for external users), users can request the desired volumes for loan or consultation, or reserve them if they are currently unavailable or located in storage rooms.

The same credentials can be used to access the personal area, where it is possible to make requests, reservations and renewals, check current loans and consultations, their due dates and requests waiting to be processed; it is possible also to create bibliographies and save searches.

A special section on the catalogue homepage highlights the latest arrivals and new acquisitions.

The catalogue can also be accessed from mobile devices by using the UniBS Library app, which can be downloaded for free from the links below (iOS and Android).

Other catalogues

The University Library System participates in some major cooperation projects on a national and regional level.

The entire catalogue of the print collection is available in OPAC SBN, the collective catalogue of the National Library System.

Journals are also registered in ACNP (National Collective Archive of Journals), managed by the University of Bologna and the CNR.

The Medicine Library is a member of SBBL (Lombard Biomedical Library System). SBBL provides Document Delivery services and access to medical databases and electronic journals.

UniBS Discovery

UniBS Discovery, based on EBSCO's EDS technology, is the discovery tool adopted by the University of Brescia to enable integrated searching of all print and digital resources.

Discovery tool search

The search queries a wide archive which includes almost all the resources available in our libraries (collection catalogue, databases, electronic journals, e-books). Some resources are not accessible via discovery tool, so in these cases it is necessary to do separate searches, directly on their websites (a list of these resources is attached at the bottom of the page).

The discovery tool has two different search forms: the basic one and the advanced one with more search fields. The search results, ordered by relevance, can be further filtered.

For each result, the different access methods are shown: for print resources, link to the collection catalogue; for electronic resources, link to the record or full text in some databases and Full Text Finder (the link resolver integrated in the discovery tool). When the resource is not available among our collections, Full Text Finder opens a form to submit a request to the interlibrary services (Request a copy from the library).

Publication Finder (E-books and e-journals)

Through this dedicated interface users can specifically search for publications in electronic format (e-books and e-journals), by title or ISSN/ISBN, among our collections. The search results, sorted by relevance, can be further filtered. For each result, the different possibilities to access the full text are shown, with the corresponding links.

Starting from the homepage, there is the possibility of searching by name, database and field.

Users are always recommended to search for e-books and e-journals via this dedicated interface and not via the discovery tool.

Access

UniBS Discovery can be used both within the university network and off-campus. In case of off-campus connection, the search and consultation of free/open access resources are permitted to everyone; the consultation of resources subscribed by the University Library System is instead reserved for institutional users, who are required to log in on EZproxy when opening the Discovery or before accessing the resources.

For usage on mobile devices, users can download the EBSCO Mobile app (iOS and Android) for free, using the link provided below.
