Gifts, donations and testamentary bequests

Gifts, donations and testamentary bequests

Institutions and individuals may donate bibliographic and documentary material (ancient or modern) to the libraries of the University of Brescia in the form of liberal donations.

The procedures for submitting offers and the acceptance process are governed by a specific document (Dispositions for donations, testamentary bequests and gifts of bibliographic material, attached at the bottom of the page), approved by the Scientific Council of the University Library System.

Donors must send a letter of intent, drafted according to the template provided below, to the Manager of the Back Office and Digital Library Unit.

Acceptance occurs only after careful evaluation of the material, considering the following criteria: thematic relevance, coherence with the collections, scientific interest, usefulness for users, available space, sustainability of conservation and management costs.

Gifts are examined and accepted directly by the Manager of the Back Office and Digital Library Unit. For donations and testamentary bequests, the Scientific Council of the University Library System is called to express its opinion, while the eventual acceptance is decided by the General Director (for items valued under € 5,000) or by the Board of Directors (for items valued over € 5,000).
