Building Architectural Engineering

The group

The Building Architectural Engineering research group deals with:

  • building technology,
  • accessibility,
  • study of performance behavior of buildings and building, components,
  • sustainable design and energy efficiency of the built environment,
  • analysis and design of innovative building systems,
  • certification and sustainability protocols for buildings.

Research activity

The ARTEC research group conducts research in the field of building technologies, physics and sustainability.
The group is involved in several European-funded research projects as well as basic and applied research.
It works with European and international partners and collaborates with national research institutes or other research groups in the same disciplinary field in other national universities.
Its main topics include:

  • technology and physical-technical behavior of buildings
  • accessibility,
  • technology, management and enhancement of the existing building heritage with a focus on cultural heritage,
  • analysis and performance characterization of technological solutions of building elements,
  • energy efficiency of buildings with a sustainable and holistic approach including analysis of comfort and user behavior (Behavioural UX Design),
  • study of advanced materials and components, clean tech, and innovative manufacturing and construction technologies for the built environment,  
  • certifications and regulatory tools for the rehabilitation of the existing building stock.
