Mathematical Physics

The group

The Mathematical Physics Group at University of Brescia is active from about thirty years. The members have participated and participate in various national and international research projects, have had and still have collaborations with various national and international research groups. The group is active in the participation and organization of national and international conferences, in the third mission through the organization of cultural events for schools and in science dissemination. The extension of the research topics promises a strong capacity and possibility of development in the sector in the near future.

Research activity

The research activity of the Mathematical Physics Group is addressed to the modeling of complex systems (physical, chemical, and biological) and materials of interest in applications, jointly with the study of differential, integral and integro-differential equations governing their evolution.

The main research topics of the Group include:

  • mathematical modeling of complex systems, including well-posedness, stability controllability and long-time behavior of nonlinear systems describing phase transition phenomena, contact and transmission problems, materials with memory,
  • dynamical systems and integrable/solvable models, including the construction of Backlund transformations and their applications for systems of ordinary differential equations,
  • properties and applications of special functions of Mathematical Physics, including the distribution of poles and zeros, series expansions, connection formulae.
