What is an account and what is it used for?
All students and staff of the University are provided with an account to access online services.
The account consists of a set of credentials (username and password) that must be entered on the login page to authenticate and access online services that require authentication.
The procedures governing the provision, use and expiration of accounts are described in the Regulations for the Use of IT and Network Services.
Users can also authenticate through the Public Digital Identity System (SPID) or the Electronic Identity Card (CIE), which allow access to Public Administration services using a single set of credentials recognized by all participating organizations.
Delivery and loss of credentials
The delivery of the account takes place by sending an e-mail message to the elective e-mail address of the person concerned containing an activation link for the account itself.
Upon successful activation, an email containing the account password will be sent to the same address.
If the user does not remember their elective email delivered at the time of service, they can check it and possibly update it by changing the profile from MyPortal.
CIE (Electronic Identity Card)
The CIE (Carta d’Identità Elettronica), or Electronic Identity Card, is an official identification document issued by the Italian authorities. Foreign citizens who legally reside in Italy can obtain a CIE, which can be used not only as a valid proof of identity but also as a digital identity tool to access online public services.
In particular, the CIE allows users to authenticate themselves securely on websites and digital platforms that support CIE authentication. This can be useful for university students, as some university services and online platforms may allow students to access their personal area and complete administrative procedures using their CIE credentials. For example, at the University of Brescia, CIE authentication can be used to access certain online services, making it easier for students to manage university-related procedures digitally.
For international students, having a CIE can therefore be particularly useful because it provides both a physical identification document and a secure way to access a range of Italian digital services.

Public Digital Identity System (SPID)
SPID (Public Digital Identity System) is a digital identity that allows citizens and staff to access online services simply and securely provided by the Public Administration and organizations that support “Login with SPID.”
To use SPID, you need to request and activate a SPID digital identity through one of the authorized identity providers and configure your preferred authentication method.
Once activated, SPID can be used to authenticate to compatible services, including those provided by the University when available.
