Office365 platform

Office365

The University of Brescia provides its students and all staff with the Microsoft Office 365 Education suite for creating, professionally editing and sharing documents.

Microsoft Office 365 Education is a cloud-based service that brings together the best tools for today's way of working. Thanks to the combination of advanced apps, Microsoft Office 365 Education allows everyone to create and share documents, anywhere and on any device.

In particular, Office Online includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint. As Microsoft Office 365 Education is a web-based service, the suite's apps are always updated to the latest available Office edition and/or version.

Included in the license

The Microsoft Office 365 Education licence includes:

  • Web versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote;

  • Desktop versions of Office on up to 5 PCs or Macs per user (permanent staff and students only);

  • Office apps on up to 5 tablets and 5 phones per user;

  • Microsoft Teams, a digital hub that integrates the conversations, apps and content needed to improve collaboration. Microsoft Teams is the official platform for delivering distance learning where this is permitted;

  • OneDrive, for creating and storing documents in the cloud within your Microsoft Office 365 Education account. OneDrive also allows you to synchronise documents saved on different devices using the dedicated client.

How to access the service

To use the version of Office provided by UniBS, you do not need to activate the Education version.

Simply log in at www.office.com with your University credentials; you can then use Office in two ways:

  • Online version of the Office apps: select "Apps" from the menu on the left, then click on the desired application (Word, Excel, etc.), which will run within the browser.

  • Download and install the desktop version of Office: also in the "Apps" section there is a button to download Office (top right). The desktop version of the apps can only be activated if the user profile includes an A5 licence (see the User Profiles and Services table in the "Implementing Rules of the Regulations for the Use of IT and Network Services" document).
