The Observatory originated from the transformation of the Centre for the Study and Research of Behavioural Disorders and Neurodegenerative Diseases, established in 2002.

Three-Year Activity Plan (2014-2016)

The Observatory's research programme includes the following areas of investigation:

  • Neuropsychology of schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
  • Molecular genetics of psychiatric disorders.
  • Molecular genetics of the major neurological diseases.
  • Pharmacogenetics of the efficacy and tolerability of second-generation antipsychotics, first-line antidepressants, and mood stabilizers.
  • Treatment resistance in major psychiatric disorders.
  • Psychiatric rehabilitation.

The Observatory aims to promote interdisciplinary research at the intersection of psychiatry, neurology, genetics, and neuroscience, fostering advances in the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
