Pursuant to Article 5(5) of Law No 89 of 16 February 1913, in order to become a notary, it is necessary, inter alia, ‘to have been registered as a trainee with a notary's council and to have practised for eighteen months, including at least one year continuously after graduation ... Practice is carried out, after registration in the register of trainees, with a notary in the district, designated by the trainee, with the consent of the notary himself and with the approval of the Council ... Enrolment in the register of trainees may be obtained after enrolment in the final year of the Degree course or Master's degree course in law ...'.
Pursuant to paragraph 4, Article 6, Presidential Decree No. 137 of 7 August 2012, ‘The traineeship may also be carried out for the first six months, in the presence of a specific framework agreement between the national council of the order or college, the minister of education, university and research, and the supervising minister, in conjunction with the final year of the course of study for the required degree. Territorial councils and public and private universities may enter into agreements, in line with the one referred to in the previous sentence, to regulate their mutual relations'.
In order to enable students to carry out their internship in advance, the University of Brescia has entered into an agreement with the District Notary Council of Brescia.
In order to carry out the internship semester during the final year of the Master of Laws degree course, students must submit their application:
- at least by 20 December, if they intend to graduate in the following July;
- at least by 20 February, if they intend to graduate in the following October;
- at least by 20 May, if they intend to graduate in the following December;
- at least by 20 July if they intend to graduate in the following February;
- at least by 20 September if they intend to graduate in the following April.
The application must be completed, signed and accompanied by a list of the examinations taken (so-called on-line transcript) on the date of submission and may be submitted, alternatively:
- by depositing it at the Secretariat of the Department of Law in Palazzo Calini ai Fiumi, Via delle Battaglie, 58 / Via San Faustino, 41, Brescia;
- by e-mail to [email protected].

- submit the signed application together with the printout of your online transcript.
