From advanced Theories to Applications
Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering are closely intertwined both in cultural education, where they constitute the core of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines, and in advanced research, where examples of multidisciplinarity are notable and significant. In particular, the development of theoretical and numerical mathematical tools advances our understanding of reality through the use of descriptive mathematical models. The refinement of theoretical models, the theoretical study of the significant properties of associated solutions, and their simulation using advanced numerical methods broaden the horizons of knowledge, from abstraction to applied implications and technological innovation. The theoretical and numerical investigation of phenomena of interest is complemented by experimental activities conducted in collaboration with the National Research Council (CNR) and CERN.
