Concept Maps and Forms

The Concept Maps and Forms are compensatory tools provided for by the 2011 Guidelines "for the right to study of pupils and students with Specific Learning Disorders", designed to support exams.

Concept Maps

According to their creator, Joseph Novak: "Concept maps are intended to represent significant relationships between concepts in the form of propositions" (Learing how to learn, 1984).

Forms
The forms can be defined as a: "Collection of formulas regarding a specific subject" (Garzanti)

Both of these tools have the purpose of starting and orienting the reasoning process through the visualization of key concepts, for this reason they must be easily consultable and contain only the main/basic information.

Furthermore, the presentation of Concept Maps or Forms that are not very schematic would require well over 30% more time (maximum established by law) to derive an effective benefit from consulting them.

N.B. The Concept Maps and Forms are not to be confused with extended discursive notes and summaries or with the carrying out of mathematical exercises.

HOW TO REQUEST CONCEPT MAPS AND FORMS

The possibility of requesting Concept Maps or Forms will be attributed on the basis of the content of the diagnostic documentation that the student will present to the Office.

Those who are eligible to use these tools will be able to request them by selecting them when registering for the exam in Esse3 and attaching the PDF of the Conceptual Maps and/or Forms that they intend to use by Ticket –
ttps://servicedesk.unibs.it/ - category: inclusion - subcategory: Concept Maps and Exam Forms
within 10 working days prior to the test date.

The student will have to wait for the teacher's response.
If the opening for registration for the session is available less than 10 working days before the session itself, it is recommended in the meantime to open the ticket and subsequently report in Esse3, during registration for the session, the request to take advantage of the concept maps and forms.

The ticket must indicate:

1. NAME AND SURNAME OF THE TEACHER
2. NAME OF THE MATTER SUBJECT OF THE EXAM
3. EXAM DATE

APPROVAL OR REJECTION OF CONCEPT MAPS AND FORMULAS

To be approved, the content of the Concept Maps and Forms must not affect the possibility of evaluating the actual preparation of the student. In the event that the material presented does not satisfy this criterion (for example by directly providing exam answers), the Teacher will have the right to ask for it to be reformulated with the necessary precautions.

The structure and nature of an exam itself may be considered incompatible with these compensatory tools in the opinion of the teacher of that course.
Should this situation arise, it will be possible to evaluate alternative ways of carrying out the exam by writing to the Professor at the same time and to the email address [email protected].

A request for Concept Maps and/or Forms may be rejected by the Teacher for purely organizational reasons if it is not forwarded at least 10 working days in advance of the exam date, as there would not be enough time to evaluate the content of the material presented.

Finally, considering that many exam sessions are scheduled close to the end of the lessons and that it may therefore be difficult to respect the required 10 working days in advance, the student is advised to prepare concept maps or forms from time to time during the course. - so as to make up for any lack of time.
