Interlibrary services for users

The interlibrary loan service, reserved for institutional users, allows them to obtain books not owned by the University of Brescia libraries.

Requests must be sent to the reference library using the form available below. Please check that the work of interest is not available in any format (paper or digital) in our libraries and provide complete and correct bibliographic data. Each user can make a maximum of 3 requests at a time.

Staff will evaluate requests within 3 working days of submission and obtain the volumes from the libraries which own them. If these are available at libraries in Brescia, users cannot use the interlibrary loan service but must obtain them independently.

The user is notified by e-mail when the material arrives and can collect it from the library distribution desk. If necessary, the material can be collected by another person, who must provide a signed delegation form (available at the bottom of the page), their own identification document and a photocopy of the identity card of the person delegating them.

The service is generally free of charge. If the lending library requests reimbursement (up to 8 euros), the user is responsible for the payment, which must be authorized in advance in the request, and then is required to make the payment according to the procedures established by the lending library. For A1 category users, any costs are chargeable to the University Library System.

The lending library determines the loan period (generally 21 days), the possibility of extensions and the availability conditions of the material, which may be loaned to the user or only available for consultation at the libraries.

The document delivery service procures reproductions of documents (articles, contributions, parts of monographs, etc.) not owned by the University of Brescia libraries. Like the interlibrary loan, this service is reserved for institutional users only.

In compliance with copyright law, reproductions may not exceed 15% of the entire volume or journal issue and they are granted exclusively for personal use; circulation and commercial use are prohibited.

The staff process requests within one working day of submission, on average. Documents available at libraries in Brescia cannot be requested through this service.

At the arrival of the material, the user is notified by e-mail and can collect it from the library distribution desk.
